Safety Officer

Job Summary
We are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented Safety Officer to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and regulations. The role involves implementing safety policies, conducting inspections, training employees, and promoting a strong safety culture across project sites and workplaces. The Safety Officer plays a critical role in preventing accidents, minimizing risks, and ensuring a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and central safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, and applicable Indian safety norms)
- Conduct regular safety inspections to identify hazards and unsafe practices
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards
🔹 Risk Assessment & Incident Control
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend preventive and corrective actions
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss cases
- Analyze root causes and implement corrective safety measures
🔹 Training & Safety Awareness
- Organize and conduct safety induction and training programs
- Ensure employees are aware of safety procedures, emergency protocols, and PPE usage
- Promote continuous safety awareness across sites
🔹 Safety Policies & Documentation
- Develop, implement, and update safety policies and procedures
- Maintain safety manuals, checklists, and emergency response plans
- Prepare incident reports, safety audits, and compliance documentation
🔹 Safety Equipment & Inspections
- Ensure availability, maintenance, and inspection of safety equipment
(fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, PPE, etc.) - Supervise proper installation and use of safety equipment at sites
🔹 Emergency Response
- Develop emergency response and evacuation plans
- Conduct fire drills and mock safety exercises
- Act as the primary safety contact during emergencies
🔹 Safety Culture Promotion
- Encourage employee participation in safety initiatives
- Monitor safety performance and provide feedback
- Promote a proactive and preventive safety culture
Qualifications
🎓 Education
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred)
- Safety certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent will be an added advantage
💼 Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in safety, EHS, or environmental health roles
- Experience in risk assessment and accident investigation preferred
🧠 Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of safety laws, regulations, and compliance standards
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct safety audits and prepare detailed reports
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Basic proficiency in safety tools and documentation
Working Conditions
- Work across office, construction, and industrial environments
- Occasional travel to project sites
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions
- Availability during emergencies and critical situations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical site inspections
- Standing, walking, climbing, and movement across work sites as required
